PrivacyRules is an international alliance that integrates legal, tech and data crisis communication solutions for data privacy. Together with its members, PrivacyRules provides these solutions while continuously refining and adjusting to evolving threats and regulations.

This week, the alliance held its Annual conference in Paris, hosted by Ydes, an exclusive French law firm member. The agenda covered discussions on emerging threats in the data privacy landscape, new law and regulations in different jurisdictions, and innovative initiatives and services. Representatives from CSS Assure and Shakespeare Martineau included Charlotte Riley, Caroline Bradshaw, Trevor Fenton and Kim Walker who attended on behalf of the UK.

Key Panel Discussion

Charlotte Riley participated in the panel titled “Cybersecurity and privacy at the crossroads: Emerging regulatory requirements and their intersection – An international Comparative overview”. Other panellists included; Gene Price (Cybersecurity Lawyer & Partner – Frost Brown Todd), Cecile Gleysteen (EU DPO – Ubisoft) and moderated by the alliances’ new Chairperson Luiza Sato of Tozzini Freire Advogados.

The discussion addressed topics such as

  • Emerging Technologies in preventing and detecting incidents;
  • The use of AI solutions for detection and response
  • The impact of quantum computing on cybersecurity;
  • The importance of preparing for incidents and implementing compliance frameworks as a baseline.
  • Advice on the role cyber insurance in risk management.

CSS Assure’s Contributions and NIS2 Compliance support.

CSS Assure is supporting new services offered by the alliance, including:

  • 3 Pillars Support, comprising information security risk assessment, incident response, and cyber awareness training;
  • Incident Response Services;
  • NIS2 Compliance Support.

Charlotte Riley addressed the NIS2 Service during the conference, outlining its significance and the proposal to attendees. This topic garnered significant attention as the European Union establishes NIS2 compliance, a strengthened legislative framework aimed at improving cybersecurity resilience. Member states are currently in the process of adopting these measures, which enhance security requirements and expand the scope of protection against cyber threats.
